A note from the founder of CANARIO+…

At 30, I suffered a devastating lifelong injury that left me temporarily paralysed, with a perforated spinal cord and collapsed discs. As I embarked on a long and arduous healing journey, I realised how much the simple act of self-care, especially skincare, had always been an anchor for me. Through the pain and uncertainty, I turned to something that always been there for me - my skincare routine. It wasn't just about looking better.

Growing up as an expat, I spent countless hours in the perfumerías, trying out the latest fragrances and topping up my sun protection with the free samples. It wasn't about just looking my best - it was about feeling confident and refreshed. I came to understand that skincare wasn't just a surface level routine. it was an essential act of self-care and wellbeing, one that became ever more important when disaster struck.

During my recovery, as I slowly regained strength and mobility, I reflected on the role that skincare had played in my life, long before the injury. I vividly remembered a childhood experience in Tenerife, where I had gotten sunburnt. A restaurant owner seeing my discomfort, asked his chef to retrieve fresh aloe vera from the very street planting to soothe my skin. That moment stayed with me - the healing power of natural ingredients, and how they can make a real difference when you need it most.

From that day, I fell in love with Aloe Vera for its incredible healing properties. It is a plant that's always struck me - symbolising nature's ability to nurture and restore.
